Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and West Brom receive huge restart boost as EFL announce testing results

Nottingham Forest have learned that only two out of over a thousand Championship players and staff tested for coronavirus this weekend have tested positive for having the disease.

The Reds will return to training tomorrow in small groups ahead of football's fast approaching restart after the club saw no tests return positive.

Players and staff at the City Ground were tested by Nationwide Pathology on Thursday and Friday in a first wave of testing that the EFL say has had no impacted in any way on NHS resources.

And in a statement on Sunday afternoon they have confirmed that their first wide-scale test has only returned two positive results in a big boost for those desperate to get back playing.

The EFL said: "The EFL can confirm that 1014 players and Club staff from all 24 Championship Clubs have been tested for COVID-19 over the course of the last 72 hours, with two individuals testing positive from one club.

"Those players or Club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.

"The EFL will continue to make regular and relevant announcements as appropriate in respect of the testing programme to support competition integrity and transparency."

It has since been confirmed that both individuals to have tested positive came from Hull City.
