Nottingham Forest lambasted by fans for woeful away defeat at Rotherham

There’s still hope of gate-crashing a place in the Championship’s play-off zone, but that hope is dwindling for Nottingham Forest.

Another tepid away performance at a team struggling at the wrong end of the division saw them lose 2-1 at Rotherham for the first time since 1956 – and it was a case of another chance blown, just like it was at Ipswich on their last outing on the road.

Despite clawing themselves level through Lewis Grabban’s 17th goal of the season 18 minutes after going behind, Martin O’Neill’s lacklustre Reds were beaten when Michael Ihiekwe nodded in on the hour – a goal which turned out to be crucial.

Forest are now five points adrift of the top six with a visit to Sheffield Wednesday to come on Tuesday evening, and in the immediate aftermath of this defeat at the New York Stadium, Reds fans were far from impressed with what they witnessed from O'Neill's men.
