Nottingham Forest 'keen' on signing Derby County star

Nottingham Forest are one of as many as nine clubs reportedly interested in signing Derby County captain Tom Lawrence on a free transfer this summer.

A 23-cap Wales international, Lawrence is out of contract at the end of next month, as are several Rams players. The 28-year-old ended last season as Derby 's top goalscorer with 11 in the Championship, as well as adding another five assists across the league campaign that ultimately ended in relegation to League One.

Lawrence has not played in the third tier since a month-long loan from Manchester United at Carlisle United back in the 2013/14 season when the player was about to turn 20-years-old. Therefore, a swift return to the top two divisions after interest from the Championship and Premier League looks likely as a free agent.

Interested from Forest is reported by TEAMtalk, who have also named current second-tier sides Watford and West Bromwich Albion as others 'keen' on the attacking midfielder. They also claim that there is decidedly more interest from the top flight, with newly-promoted Bournemouth and Fulham as well as Leeds United and Southampton apparently battling to secure the player's signature.

It's not only domestic rivals that the Reds would reportedly need to overcome if they were to land Lawrence, either. Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers are 'keeping tabs', with a number of Turkish clubs also 'making an offer'.
