Nottingham Forest issue nine word response to West Brom after controversial draw

Nottingham Forest felt hard done by after their spirited 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

The Reds twice came from behind to earn a point on the road at the Sky Bet Championship league leaders.

Callum Robinson had fired Albion in front, only for Kyle Bartley to put through his own net. The Baggies re-took the lead in the second half through a Tobias Figueiredo own goal, although Forest were adamant Sammy Ameobi was fouled in the build-up.

Matty Cash then earned a point right at the death with a stunning strike into the top corner.

But Sabri Lamouchi was unhappy with the performance of referee Keith Stroud, believing Jake Livermore should have seen red in the first half for a nasty challenge on Yuri Ribeiro.

There was also the contentious issue of Albion’s second goal, and the Reds felt they were denied a penalty for handball in the second half.

On the flip side, West Brom felt they were denied a winner with the last kick of the game when the ball appeared to be bundled over the line, only for the linesman’s flag to rule it out.

That led to West Brom’s official Twitter account posting at full-time: “Late drama as Robinson has a goal very controversially disallowed, but we round off an unbeaten week with a draw.”

Forest responded, though.

“Yeah because the ref was so biased towards us,” they said.

After today’s Championship results, Forest are now in fifth in the table and four points off the automatic promotion places, following Leeds United’s win over Bristol City.
