'Several months' - Nottingham Forest injury list after Wigan Athletic defeat

The Championship is now well and truly back - and Nottingham Forest returned from the international break with a surprise 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic.

The Reds could have moved joint-top of the division on Sunday, but that defeat has seen them stay fourth, just a point adrift of the automatic promotion places.

But the international break did give Sabri Lamouchi and his players time to rest up and it also gave time for those players who have been struggling with knocks over recent weeks and months.

Here's a full list below.

Injuries

Yohan Benalouane

The Forest centre-back has been sidelined with a back injury, with the 32-year-old undergoing surgery last month.

Benalouane's last appearance for Forest came at the end of last season in the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United, where he was sent off with a straight red card.

He is yet to feature in the first-team under Lamouchi.

Michael Hefele

Hefele has been sidelined with an Achilles injury since he was forced off early on in the New Year’s Day 4-2 home victory over Leeds United last season.

The centre-back return to his native Germany to receive treatment, and is edging closer to linking up with the squad.

Tendayi Darikwa

Darikwa suffered a ruptured ACL in July which is likely to keep him out of action until the final stages of the season.

Lamouchi said last month that the right-back had an operation on the injury, and will be sidelined for “about six months”.

Carl Jenkinson

Jenkinson is facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury prior to last month's win over Swansea.

Lamouchi says that the right-back, who joined Forest in the summer from Arsenal, will be out of action for “a few weeks”.

But he has since been pictured hobbling around in a protective boot with fears that injury is worse then first thought.

Alfa Semedo

Semedo was absent from the Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, after picking up a knock in training during the build-up.

He was not part of the matchday squad for the last four league games with Stoke, Blackburn, Brentford and Wigan.

Michael Dawson

Dawson picked up a calf injury during Forest's 3-2 victory over Stoke City.

He missed the 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday, and was also sidelined for Saturday's clash against Brentford.

Despite time away to recover during the international break, the ex-England man was not fit to feature against Wigan.

Suspensions

Forest have no players suspended.
