Nottingham Forest 'in the hunt for' highly rated League Two defender

Nottingham Forest are in the hunt for highly rated Forest Green Rovers defender Nathan McGinley, according to Huddersfield Examiner.

The 22-year-old made 38 appearances in League Two last season as the Gloucestershire side finished fifth in League Two.

A former Middlesbrough youth star, McGinley had loan spells with Wycombe Wanderers and Forest Green before making his move to the New Lawn permanent on January 1.

The left-back, who has also featured in central defence, has twelve months left on his current deal having initially penned an 18-month contract with Mark Cooper's side.

Forest join Huddersfield Town, Bristol City and Swansea in being linked a swoop for McGinley.

If reports are to be believed, Martin O'Neill is keen on bolstering his options at left-back.

On Monday it was reported that Swedish international Martin Olsson had been offered a contract at the City Ground .

Dutch defender Caner Cavlan was also linked but he has since completed a move to join Austria Wien.
