Nottingham Forest in talks with Sabri Lamouchi over new long-term contract

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi is in talks over a new Nottingham Forest contract, having impressed during his time at the City Ground.

The Frenchman penned a one-year deal when he replaced Martin O’Neill at the helm last June.

And since then he has mounted a promotion push, guiding the Reds to fifth in the Championship table before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lamouchi’s current deal is due to run out at the end of June.

Given the current situation - and with little sign of football returning any time soon - it is unlikely the Championship campaign will have been completed by that date.

Lamouchi, though, will stay on until the end of this term, whenever that may be, and talks are ongoing about extending his stay Trentside.

The 48-year-old also has a clause in his original contract which would automatically trigger an extension should Forest get promoted.

Lamouchi has impressed in what is his first taste of English football, and has previously spoken about his love for the club.

Back in February, he said: “I am happy here.

“From the beginning I was so surprised by the warm welcome from the fans. And every day, every week, every month, I am feeling at home here.

“My desire is to stay here for a long time. I can’t say more than that.”
