Nottingham Forest 'in talks' with highly-rated starlet over new contract

Nottingham Forest are looking to tie down youngster Alex Mighten to a new contract.

According to The Athletic, the Reds want to sign the starlet up on fresh terms following his impressive performances for England's Under-18s.

He hit a hat-trick in a 3-2 defeat of Russia last month and is a regular feature in Forest's Under-23s.

The 17-year-old made his senior debut in the 5-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Arsenal last month, coming on for the final 12 minutes of the Emirates Stadium clash.

He signed a two-year scholarship deal in May last year, with Manchester United reportedly sniffing around the winger.

Mighten is the latest product to emerge from the Nigel Doughty Academy with starting centre-back Joe Worrall also a graduate of Forest's academy.

Fellow academy product Arvin Appiah, who Mighten was compared to, joined Almeria for £8 million in the summer.
