Nottingham Forest say they are in conversation with shirt sponsors Football Index amid reports customers of the online betting company have suffered huge financial losses.
Football Index, which was founded in 2015, is described as “the world’s first football stock market” which gives “customers a chance to bet on the future success of football players”.
Players, known as “traders”, buy and sell shares in professional footballers, with the platform essentially operating as a stock market.
Traders buy shares in players to build their portfolios and are paid out in “dividends”.
But last Saturday, Football Index’s market collapsed following an announcement on Friday evening saying dividends were being reduced by about 80 percent within 30 days.
Call for more
A settled Anthony Knockaert is starting to find some form for Nottingham Forest - but boss Chris Hughton still wants more.
The Fulham winger had something of a quiet start to his loan spell at the City Ground in the first half of the season.
He joined the club in October, as the only one of the Reds’ 14 summer signings to arrive after Hughton took charge.
But since signing an extension to that deal in January, he has shown more of the talent he clearly possesses.
Warning shots
Reading are wary of coming up against a “well-drilled” Nottingham Forest outfit when they make the trip to the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds have suffered back-to-back defeats, being beaten at home to Luton Town last Tuesday night and then falling by the same 1-0 scoreline at Watford on Saturday.
But prior to that, they had lost just twice in 15 league games.
A sloppy goal cost them against the Hornets at Vicarage Road, although their biggest issue remains at the opposite end of the pitch, where finding the back of the net continues to be a problem.
Billy's back?
Former Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has been tipped to be a contender for the vacant manager’s job at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.
The Dons are looking for a new boss following the departure of the long-serving Derek McInnes.
Stephen Glass is the current bookmakers’ favourite while Shaun Maloney, Neil Lennon, who recently left Celtic, and former Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson have also been linked with the post.
According to the Daily Record, Davies, who hasn’t managed since his stormy second spell at Forest ended in 2014, could also be in the frame.
