Nottingham Forest in 'advanced talks' with Reds ace about new deal

Midfielder Ryan Yates is reportedly in “advanced talks” about signing a new Nottingham Forest deal.

The 21-year-old broke into the Reds’ first-team last season, making his debut against Bury in the Carabao Cup back in August.

Although he had to wait until January to get his next chance in the Garibaldi, he went on to become a regular starter in the second half of the campaign.

In total, he notched up 17 appearances and found the back of the net in the 2-2 draw away to West Bromwich Albion.

And, according to the website Football Insider, the club are set to reward Yates with fresh terms.

The Nigel Doughty Academy product agreed a new three-year contract last summer, and it is claimed he is set to be offered a two-year extension which would keep him at the City Ground until 2023.

Yates is likely to miss the start of the upcoming campaign however, after Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi revealed he has undergone surgery on his knee to cure a long-standing problem.

The youngster is expected to be out of action for about two months, with Lamouchi hoping he will quickly be back involved.

“Ryan is a strong player and we need players like him back available as soon as possible,” said the Frenchman.
