Nottingham Forest are reportedly in advanced talks to sign young Barcelona midfielder Marcus McGuane.
According to Football Insider, the Reds are on the verge of complete the permanent signing of the 20-year-old midfielder from the Nou Camp.
The report adds that Forest are hopeful of completing the deal in time for Friday’s 11pm deadline.
McGuane came up through the ranks at Premier League giants Arsenal, before moving to Spain in 2018 and linking up with Barca’s B side.
He has spent the first half of this season on loan at Dutch side Telstar, but is said to have returned to England this month for talks with a number of clubs - with the 20-year-old opting for Forest.
It is likely that, should he move to the City Ground, McGuane will link up with Chris Cohen’s Under-23 side at the Nigel Doughty Academy.
Forest have made two new signings during this month’s transfer window, with the latest striker Nuno da Costa on a permanent deal from French club Strasbourg.
The 28-year-old joins Adama Diakhaby as new faces at the City Ground, with the winger arriving on Trentside on loan from Huddersfield Town.
