Nottingham Forest are hopeful of signing Albert Adomah within the next 24 hours, with suggestions the winger is currently undergoing a medical for the Reds.
Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion were said to be still looking to hijack the deal, but it is Forest who for his signature.
Adomah is a free agent after his contract with newly-promoted Aston Villa expired at the end of last season.
He was a target for Forest while Martin O'Neill was still in charge at the City Ground, and it is understood the club have remained keen despite the Northern Irishman being replaced by Sabri Lamouchi last month.
According to Bristol Live, Adomah has already met with the Reds’ new head coach and was attracted by the history of the club and the thought of playing in front of the City Ground crowd.

The 31-year-old is thought to be keen to represent a team he sees as capable of mounting a promotion challenge this coming season.
Millwall and Bristol City are also said to have been keen on Adomah, who played a key part in Villa’s promotion to the Premier League before being released.
Adomah would become Forest's sixth signing of the summer.
Sammy Ameobi joined while O'Neill was at the helm, and Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro and Arijanet Muric have all put pen to paper since Lamouchi took over.
