Nottingham Forest head of recruitment watches young Marseille midfielder

Nottingham Forest’s head of recruitment is understood to have been back in his homeland at the weekend, to take in one of his former club’s bright young talents.

Jose Anigo was spotted at the Paul Le Cesne Stadium in Marseille on Saturday night watching the club’s reserve side lose 3-1 to RC Grasse.

After the game, he was in conversation with midfielder Jores Rahou, a player he will know well from his time with the French giants as academy director, first team coach and general manager.

Rahou, an attacking midfielder, has been with Marseille since the age of seven, progressing through the ranks and spent some of pre-season training with the first team squad.

Such has been his form, the 16-year-old was crowned the club’s young player of the month in September.

Anigo, along with Francois Modesto, the Reds’ chief scout, had been working with Forest throughout the summer, before seeing their roles made permanent.

Speaking last month about their appointments, head coach Sabri Lamouchi admitted both were working with a keen eye on the future

“It is good for the club. They are working for the future.

“I know them from before, so it is good to have them with us.

“They help because the manager cannot do everything alone, so they anticipate some (transfer) windows and the (transfer) market, and to work for the long-term with the club.”
