Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi explains 'very clear' goalkeeper situation

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi says it is “very clear” who his first-choice Nottingham Forest goalkeeper will be.

The Reds brought in Brice Samba from Caen earlier this week, with the 25-year-old shot-stopper penning a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

And despite Luke Steele leaving for Millwall on loan, on deadline day, it is still an area where the club are well stocked.

Manchester City loanee Arijanet Muric started between the posts on the opening day of the season, though suffered a tough debut in the 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. Last term’s No.1 Costel Pantilimon and Jordan Smith also remain on the books.

But Lamouchi will not be swayed when it comes to picking his preferred custodian, with Samba seen as a signing for the future and Muric getting the nod for the present.

“It is very clear and very simple, Aro is number one. He has big potential,” said the Frenchman.

“With Brice, it was a great opportunity for the club to bring him in and sign the player.

“He has good experience and is a good keeper as well.

“He has signed for four years, so he is for the future.

“Aro is just on loan from City.

“But one and two, it is clear for me and clear for them.”
