Nottingham Forest have suffered this transfer deadline day setback - reports

Nottingham Forest have been dealt a blow in their reported pursuit of Sheffield United midfielder Luke Freeman.

Reports in recent days have suggested that the Reds are interested in signing the Blades midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.

Leeds United have also been credited with an interested in the 27-year-old midfielder.

Now Sky Sports are reporting that the Blades have knocked back offers from six different clubs during this month’s transfer window.

Fulham, Millwall, Swansea, Celtic and Rangers, as well as Forest, have been named in the report.

Freeman has found his chances limited since arriving at Bramall Lane from Queens Park Rangers over the summer.

He has made 13 appearances in all competitions - but only three Premier League starts.

Earlier this week, Blades boss Chris Wilder was asked about the chances of Freeman, and former Forest loanee Billy Sharp, leaving the club on loan before this evening’s 11pm deadline.

"There's obvious interest in boys who aren't playing football and I'd be disappointed if there wasn't. But I want to keep the group together,” Wilder told the Sheffield Star on Thursday.

He added: "Some players have not kept pace with the club over the last three years but Billy and Luke have.

"They're part of the group and if I was in the Championship, I'd make an enquiry for them; one hundred per cent.

"But they're part of the group going forward and that's the end of the story as far as I'm concerned."
