Nottingham Forest have received this crucial update from the EFL

The EFL have written to Nottingham Forest to give them guidance on when to resume training during the coronavirus suspension.

Elite football in England is currently postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, with Forest’s campaign halted for the foreseeable future.

The season is not due to resume until April 30, at the earliest, although the chances of football getting back underway next month remains unlikely.

The Forest players will not report back for training until mid-April after guidance from the EFL.

Nottinghamshire Live understands the EFL communicated with all clubs last week, including Forest, advising them that group training should not resume until April 14 at the earliest.

That could be extended, depending on guidance from the government, chief medical officer and the EFL and FA.

The EFL are set to hold further meetings this week with the Premier League and the FA, as they discuss when and how the campaign could and should resume.

It comes after strong reports over the weekend claiming the domestic season will start and finish in either June or July and be played behind closed doors over a four to six week schedule.
