Nottingham Forest have 'opened negotiations' with Bordeaux over striker

Nottingham Forest are said to have "opened negotiations" with Bordeaux over Alexandre Mendy, ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Mercato claim Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi wants the 25-year-old striker to bolster his attack for the new Championship campaign.

Toulon-born Mendy, who is under contract at Bordeaux until 2021, began his career at Nice, moving to Guingamp in 2016 and Bordeaux a year later, on a four-year deal.

He scored four goals in 16 matches for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 in his first season with the club, and was loaned to Guingamp for six months last season, netting three times in 16 matches.

Forest are short of firepower at the start of the new season, with Lamouchi only having Lewis Grabban and on-loan Rafa Mir at his disposal, having told Daryl Murphy and Jason Cummings they can leave the City Ground.
