Nottingham Forest have ‘declared a verbal interest’ in promotion winner Albert Adomah

Nottingham Forest have ‘declared a verbal interest’ in Championship play-off winner Albert Adomah.

The flying winger, who helped Aston Villa to promotion at Wembley last month, playing a key role as his side saw off Forest’s bitter rivals Derby County to earn a place back in the Premier League.

Despite playing 73 minutes at Wembley, Adomah was told his contract would not be renewed by boss Dean Smith at Villa Park, and now, the Reds are one of the clubs chasing his signature, according to the Bristol Post, with Martin O’Neill already having made clear his intent to bring Adomah to Nottingham.

Adomah is also attracting the interest of former club Bristol City, having played 136 times for the Ashton Gate club between 2010 and 2013, while Millwall have also expressed their desire to sign the 31-year-old winger who has made at least 40 appearances in each of the last 10 seasons.

It’s understood Adomah would be keen to remain in the Midlands, which would be good news for Forest, though he does still own property in Bristol and is said to be ‘excited’ by the prospect of making a return to Ashton Gate and playing under boss Lee Johnson.

One of Adomah’s key demands for his next move is to be part of a squad which has pressure and expectation, say the Post, something he would have in abundance at the City Ground.

City winger Callum O’Dowda is expected to leave the club this summer, which could open up a place in Johnson’s squad for Adomah – and the Irishman spoke highly of Forest boss Martin O’Neill earlier this month while away on international duty.
