Nottingham Forest have reportedly had an offer rejected for young Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Paz.
The Reds were linked with the 22-year-old earlier this month, with Championship rivals Reading and Brentford also said to be interested and Brazilian outfit Fortzleza apparently keen on a loan deal.
Portuguese newspaper A BOLA claim Forest have now made a 1.5m euros bid for the player - half the amount his club value him at.
They say the Reds have “already moved from words to actions”, but that “the values placed on the table by the English (club) did not satisfy the Leo leaders, who did not take long to refuse the offer”.
However, the report adds: “Nottingham did not give up on hiring the footballer and, according to what A BOLA learned, at this moment they are studying the best way to present a new proposal.”
Esporte ao Minuto, meanwhile, say Sporting would only contemplate letting the youngster leave if the agreement “contemplates a buyback clause”.
Paz has made one senior appearance for Sporting, coming off the bench in a 3-0 Europa League victory over Vorskla Poltava in December 2018.
He has struggled with a knee injury this term and has not featured for the first-team, though has been involved with the Under-23s.
The Portuguese penned a new deal last year and is under contract until June 2023.
