Nottingham Forest have 'asked' about transfer for Brazil ace amid Wolves talks

Nottingham Forest have "asked" about a possible deal for Atletico Madrid centre-back Felipe, according to reports.

The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a January move to Wolverhampton Wanderers this month, but it now seems that Forest could also be showing an interest. He has struggled for game time this season, featuring in just three La Liga games.

According to the Daily Mail, Forest have asked Atletico about the player this month, although it is not clear what the answer was. The report also adds that the defender has been "talking" to Wolves over a possible move.

Steve Cooper is keen to add further to his side in the final days of the transfer window. The report adds that a deal for Keylor Navas is "moving closer" with the Costa Rica international targeted as a replacement for the injured Dean Henderson.

The Manchester United loanee picked up a calf injury in the 2-0 Premier League win over Leicester City and is expected to be out of action until at least the end of next month.

Forest have already added to their squad in January. Chris Wood joined Brazilians Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo in arriving at the City Ground.

It now seems that Forest have an eye on a third Brazilian signing of the month in Felipe. The 33-year-old has mostly been used as an unused substitute this season, meaning he could look for a move away from Spain in order to increase his game time. He joined Atletico from Portuguese side FC Porto in the summer of 2019.

Speaking earlier this week, Cooper said that he expects both incomings and outgoings at the City Ground before Tuesday's deadline. “It's never a straightforward process,” he said. “But we’re definitely clear about what we would like to do. Hopefully we can get it done.”
