Nottingham Forest have a "superb player" on their hands in Joao Carvalho.
That is the verdict of pundit Stephen Warnock, who was full of admiration for Carvalho's man of the match performance in the 3-0 win against Middlesbrough.
"Carvalho is a superb player. His individual quality is excellent," the former England defender said on Monday's EFL on Quest highlights show.
Aitor Karanka has no regrets about leaving Nottingham Forest as he plots next step
"He has ability on the ball and a fantastic weight of pass. He was the difference against a poor Middlesbrough team, a very defensive Middlesbrough team."
Carvalho has only started twice since Martin O'Neill came to the club in January, however, the attacking midfielder was the outstanding player in a fantastic team performance, as he set up two goals.
Ex-Liverpool left-back Warnock felt the Reds were deserving winners by such a comfortable margin, adding that Boro fans will be bitterly disappointed by such a one-sided affair at the City Ground.
"If I'm a Middlesbrough fan I want to see my team go for it and fail for the right reasons," he said.
"They've been beaten handsomely."
