Nottingham Forest handed transfer update as Reds target set for big decision

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is set to make a decision on his future in the next few days amid claims he is wanted by Nottingham Forest.

Middlesbrough have also been linked with the 20-year-old who featured in the Gunners' Carabao Cup win over Sunderland in midweek.

Forest have been strongly tipped to add to their forward line in the January window as they look to maintain their incredible form under Steve Cooper who has guided them to seventh in the Championship table.

Balogun is a name that has been consistently linked with a switch to the City Ground and it is understood the Reds are keen on the young forward.

Arsenal see a loan move as beneficial to his development and our colleagues at Football London have issued an update on the forward's future.

They report: "The 20-year-old recently picked up the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for November after 15 goals in 13 appearances for the under-23s this season.

"Balogun is wanted by a number of clubs including Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and French side Saint-Etienne.

"Arsenal believe that a loan spell would be beneficial for the next stage of his development, with the player set to make a decision on his future in the coming days."

Earlier this week, Arsenal fans maintain that Balogun needs a loan move this season having made six appearances for the Gunners this season.

Balogun has appeared twice in the Premier League this season, but there is a widespread feeling that he is not yet ready for regular first-team football at the Emirates.

However, the situation has been slightly complicated by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who has been stripped of the club captaincy due to a breach of club discipline.

That, according to reports, could propel Balogun closer to the first-team picture.
