Nottingham Forest handed Matty Cash transfer boost amid West Ham interest - report

Nottingham Forest appear to have been handed a boost in their bid to keep hold of Matty Cash beyond this summer.

The versatile full-back has been in fine form for the Reds this season, and his performances have attracted interest from other clubs.

West Ham, Everton and AC Milan were linked with a move for Cash during the January transfer window, but the 22-year-old remained at the City Ground after signing a new contract last November, which runs until the summer of 2023.

It was claimed earliest this week that the Hammers could reignite their interest in Cash this summer, after having a reported £18m bid rejected during the January transfer window.

However, according to Claret and Hugh, Hammers boss David Moyes has no interest in strengthening the right-back position, and is instead focusing on bolstering his striker and left-back options.

West Ham currently have Ryan Fredericks as the club’s first-choice right-back, while youngster Jeremy Ngakia has recently enjoyed spells in the fist-team.

"I know about footballers," said Moyes when quizzed on his summer recruitment plans.

"That idea of getting players who are hungry, who still want to climb the ladder and are trying to be Premier League players, we have to have a mix of that.

“What we have been saying in recent years is that we can buy someone ready-made who can come [straight] in. I am saying: ‘Stop. Stop.’ Let’s go for people who we think are young, future internationals.

"We won’t get them all right, it is impossible. We need to bring people in who have got a chance, not just ones who are plugging the gap, take and go away and not giving us anything at the end of it."
