Nottingham Forest handed Leeds United 'bonus' after injury update

Former Nottingham Forest coach Ian McParland has said Forest face a "massive week" in their season as the Reds battle to avoid relegation.

Steve Cooper's team are just two points above the bottom three with 11 fixtures left to play. The Reds are on a six-game winless run since a 1-0 home win over Leeds United in February.

Forest face a potentially season-defining period over the next week as they take on fellow strugglers Wolves at the City Ground on Saturday. The Reds then travel to Leeds in another relegation six-pointer at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.

And McParland, who has held several coaching roles within the club, has highlighted the importance of Forest's upcoming fixtures. "It could be massive this week, absolutely massive," he told Notts TV's Team Talk.

"Wolves are in the mix, down there fighting for their lives. It's a home game and as we all know, the Nottingham Forest away record is dire. In fact if there was a word to explain it worse than dire you would be saying that, so you don't expect them to win away from home so they need to win at home.

"If they win on Saturday that goes a massive long way to them staying up. Then they come up against Leeds United away from home. Leeds are very energetic, but they've lost I think their main player in Tyler Adams so that's a bonus for Forest.

"But at the end of the day, you take care of your own business and they have to be out on that pitch on Saturday, organised running that extra yard and the manager must have the right game plan to go and win that football match and definitely don't lose it."
