Nottingham Forest appear to have been handed a boost in their bid to keep hold club-record signing Joao Carvalho.
The Reds playmaker has been linked with a move away from the City Ground in recent weeks, with Greek club Olympiacos credited with an interest in his signature.
The most recent report claimed that Forest and Olympiacos are in “advanced” talks over a deal for Carvalho, and did not rule out a transfer being completed before Friday’s deadline.
Olympiacos recently confirmed the departure of forward Daniel Podence, who has signed for Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
With that deal now complete, the Greek club are in the market for a replacement, with speculation tipping Carvalho to be just that.
Now Greek news outlet Sdna report that Olympiacos have switched their attention to Leicester City forward Rachid Ghezzal as a replacement for Podence .
Ghezzal is currently on loan at Serie A side Fiorentina, but the report states that Olympiacos could still sign the player.
The Greek club are also being credited with an interest in former Forest and Fulham midfielder Pajtim Kasami as a potential Podence replacement.
So far this season, Carvalho has made 19 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship, but has only featured in the starting 11 on eight occasions.
The last time Carvalho played the full 90 minutes for Forest was during their 4-0 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday in December.
