Nottingham Forest hailed as 'a legendary club' for latest incredible NHS gesture

Nottingham Forest will donate 10,000 meals to local NHS staff working on the front line during the coronavirus crisis.

The Reds’ chefs have volunteered to cook and prepare the meals at the City Ground - at a rate of 2,000 per week.

They will then be collected by newly-formed local charity Open Kitchens and distributed to NHS staff.

The club say they are “committed to helping those in need” and working alongside Open Kitchens means they can “directly help those on the front line in the hospitals who are risking their lives every day”.

Open Kitchens is a national food solution that brings together restaurants and their communities to produce and deliver free meals to those in need.

Founder and CEO Adam Roberts said: "We’re delighted that Forest are producing 10,000 meals for NHS workers in Nottingham over the next five weeks through the Open Kitchens initiative.

“It’s an incredible gesture from a legendary club that will go a long way to getting nutrient-rich and tasty meals to our front line workers.

“Not only do these guys deserve good food, we hope it will give them a timely boost and remind them that we are here for them, just as they are here for us."
