Nottingham Forest great has been proven spectacularly right about Billy Davies

It was six years ago this week that Billy Davies was sacked by Nottingham Forest.

The Scot might have led the Reds to two strong promotion challenges, guiding them to the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs twice, in his first spell in charge at the City Ground.

But his poisonous second spell ended in humiliation - a 5-0 defeat at the hands of the club's arch-enemy Derby County.

He was axed by then owner Fawaz Al Hasawi just two days after that derby debacle - and Davies has so far not made a return to management, which is no surprise at all to Forest great Kenny Burns, who said he wouldn't manage again a couple of years after Davies' departure from the club.

“Billy is his own worst enemy. He’s got a chip but rather than have it on one shoulder he’s got one on both shoulders," he said.

“He made a rod for his own back here. Every day must have been a nightmare at the club.

"I don’t think he will get into management again.

“He says he has had offers from all these clubs. Anyone can say they’ve had offers."
