Nottingham Forest goalkeeper seals Mansfield Town move

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper George Shelvey has completed a move to Mansfield Town on a season-long loan.

The Reds have high hopes for the 20-year-old who was sent out on loan to National League side Wealdstone at the end of last season.

And now the Stags have given him the chance to gain Football League experience and he will join Reds legend Nigel Clough who is the Stags' manager.

Shelvey also enjoyed a loan stint at Truro City in the Southern League Premier Division South in the 2019-20 season.

Shelvey signed professional terms at the City Ground earlier in the year in a deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.

He appeared frequently for the Under 18s and 23s and also has featured as an unused substitute for the first team.

Shelvey will now hope he can inspire Mansfield to promotion from League Two with the Stags expected to be challenging at the top end of the table.
