Nottingham Forest goalkeeper reportedly set for deadline day loan exit

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele is said to be set to head back to Millwall on loan.

The 35-year-old spent the first half of the season with the Reds’ Championship rivals, before returning to the City Ground earlier this month when that spell came to an end.

According to London News Online, Steele will head back to The Den “after a loan was agreed” with the Reds, following another injury to Frank Fielding.

The report adds: “Fielding’s season looks to be over after he tore a bicep muscle in training recently.

“Millwall could have moved outside the window to either take a free agent or do an emergency loan if anything happened to first-choice Bart Bialkowski.

“But instead they have set up another spell in south London for Steele.”

The shot-stopper made just two appearances for the Lions during his first spell there - both of them coming in August, in the Carabao Cup.

Forest have already Costel Pantilimon to leave, joining Cypriot club AC Omonia, while Arijanet Muric looks likely to end his loan spell from Manchester City early.

Steele, too, would almost certainly have found himself down the pecking order at the City Ground, with Brice Samba having established himself as first-choice and Jordan Smith recently being on the bench as back-up.
