Nottingham Forest flop seals £13.7m transfer

Former Nottingham Forest loanee Rafa Mir has joined Sevilla from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £13.7 million.

The 24-year-old, who spent the first half of the 2019/20 season on loan at the City Ground, has finally made a permanent move back to Spain after spending the last four seasons on loan at three different clubs.

Mir was reported to be on the cusp of a move to Spanish champions Atletico Madrid earlier this month, but will now be donning the red and white of Sevilla.

His time Trentside wasn't the most successful, with the striker failing to score in 13 appearances while mainly acting as a backup to Lewis Grabban.

He did manage to set up two goals during his time at the club, however, assisting his striker partner Grabban's equaliser at Elland Road as well as teeing up Albert Adomah with his head for the opener in the 3-0 Carabao Cup rout of Derby County.

It's fair to say Mir's fortune in front of goal has certainly improved in recent seasons since leaving the East Midlands.

After departing the Reds in January 2020, the striker spent a successful spell at Huesca, firing in nine goals in 18 matches before the season was out to help them get promoted out of the second division.

His stay away from Wolves was extended for a second season, and his form continued in La Liga as Mir scored 13 goals in the top flight, but it wasn't enough to keep the newly-promoted side in the division as they fell two points short.

After his performances began to catch the eye of established clubs within the upper echelons of La Liga, Wolves decided to cash in on the striker, who notably scored a 30-minute hat-trick during the summer's Tokyo Olympics en-route to a silver medal.
