Nottingham Forest flop Harry Arter set to seal deadline day exit

Nottingham Forest flop Harry Arter is set to leave the City Ground to sign for League One Charlton Athletic on loan.

Nottinghamshire Live understands the Addicks are confident of wrapping up a deal for the ex-Bournemouth midfielder and a deal could be announced this afternoon.

Arter originally started on the books of Charlton and should the deal be completed he is expected to spend the season at the Valley.

The 31-year-old is currently away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland but has fallen well down the pecking order at Forest who have been eager to offload him.

He is reportedly among the top earners at the City Ground after a high-profile switch from the Addicks but has not made the matchday squad under boss Chris Hughton since February 1.

Forest have made big changes to their midfield since Arter arrived with James Garner, Ryan Yates and Cafu having all be ahead of him in the pecking order.

And with the Reds set to clinch a deal for Paraguay international Braian Ojeda, the chances of reviving his career at Forest are extremely remote.

News of Arter's expected departure comes on what is set to be frantic finale to deadline day at the City Ground with the club also hoping to seal deals for striker Josh Maja as well as full-back Mohamed Drager.

Forest are also thought to be open to offers for Carl Jenkinson and Gaetan Bong, but their departures look unlikely at this stage.
