Nottingham Forest flop dubbed Spain's 'most fashionable footballer' as big clubs circle

Rafa Mir’s star continues to rise since an ill-fated loan spell at Nottingham Forest, with Barcelona now said to be among the clubs chasing his signature.

The striker struggled during his time at the City Ground last season. He made 13 appearances - nine of those coming from off the bench - and failed to find the back of the net.

He was due to spend the full campaign with the Reds, but his loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers was ended early and he made the switch to Huesca.

The second half of the 2019/20 term saw Mir find his shooting boots as he hit nine goals in 18 league appearances. And he has continued to make an impact this time around.

Remaining at Huesca, he has bagged 15 goals so far, including four in his last two La Liga games.

It is form which has seen him catch the eye of a number of big-name sides ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to MARCA, Mir “is the most fashionable footballer in Spanish football”.

Spanish giants Barca have been added to the list of names reportedly keen on the 23-year-old, along with Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.

Speaking to Radio MARCA, Mir said: “Interest from other teams? These things happen; we know how it works.

“It does not distract me from my goal, which is day-to-day: training and the game on Sunday. When the year ends we will talk to Wolves, who are the owner of my rights, and see what path we will take.”

After signing Mir on loan from Wolves Huesca initially claimed they had the option to purchase him permanently, but that is no longer believed to be the case.

MARCA say: “His races with the ball that reach 35 kilometers per hour, his hard shots from the front, his dominance of the area both above and below and his ability to play with his back to the rival goal have not gone unnoticed by the great football clubs continental.”

They report Wolves are prepared to sell him this summer, for a fee which could reach around 15m euros.
