Nottingham Forest fighting Swansea for defender Mathieu Peybernes - report

Nottingham Forest and Swansea City are battling to sign French defender Mathieu Peybernes according to reports.

Radio Marca say the Championship sides are both interested in the 29-year-old who is deemed surplus to requirements at Deportiva Almeria.

The report claims that it will cost both sides one million Euros to complete the switch for the former France under-21 international who has attracted interest from Getafe and Levante.

Peybernes spent last season on loan at Lugo and produced a string of excellent performances which secured him the player of the season crown.

The Reds have been linked with several defenders this summer although they have already signed Tyler Blackett on a free transfer after his departure from Reading.

But Peybernes does have an excellent pedigree having played for Sochaux, Bastia and Lorient.

He has also represented France at youth international level and played for the under-21s.

The news comes as Forest defender Joe Worrall was linked with a move to Premier League Burnley who are said to be offering £4m and Ben Gibson in exchange for the centre-back.
