Nottingham Forest legend Stuart Pearce has given a frank response that fans will love when posed with a Derby County related question today.
Pearce, who made over 400 league appearances for the club, was appearing on TalkSport and discussed the appointment of Steve Bruce at Newcastle United.
Newcastle's decision to hire the former Sunderland boss has not gone down well with supporters and has led to an increased belief that loyalty in modern football is gone.
However, Pearce disagrees and made his loyalty to Forest crystal clear when asked if he would consider taking a job with arch-rivals Derby.
"Steve Bruce has managed both Sheffield clubs, both Birmingham clubs and both sides in the North East now. Here's a question for you, would you consider a job at Derby County?", he was asked by TalkSport host Alan Brazil.
"Not a chance. I've got nothing against Derby County at all but my relationship with Nottingham fans changes drastically if I ever represented Derby at any level."
Then it was pointed out that Pearce has actually represented Derby, albeit in a testimonial match, and even scored for the Rams against Rangers, kissing the badge in celebration.
"I certainly did, someone had to break the deadlock for them! There was a bit of sarcasm in that actually, which wasn't lost on the fans," he added.
Finally, when asked if loyalty in football is out the window now, Pearce made it clear that his thoughts have not changed in the era of modern football.
"Not in my world it isn't!" he said.
