Nottingham Forest fans told what to expect from new boss Steve Cooper

Neil Harris has told Nottingham Forest fans what they can expect from new head coach Steve Cooper.

Cooper's first match in the dugout at the City Ground will come against Harris' former employers Millwall on Saturday, who sit eighth in the Championship table going into the weekend.

The 44-year-old, who coached against Cooper twice in South Wales derbies while in charge at Cardiff City, was full of praise for his contemporary when speaking soon after the Reds finally announced that the former Swansea City head coach had made the move Trentside.

Speaking to Sky Sports, former Forest striker Harris was keen to stress how "Coops" is a "good fit" for his new position based on his track record in the game so far.

"First of all, Coops is a really good guy, a really nice fella, and really well respected in the changing room, comes across very well in the press," said Harris.

"I saw Steven Reid took the team on Saturday and played a 3-4-3 formation. I expect Coops to play something similar towards that.

'Maybe slightly different to what Chris Hughton has done and give people, maybe, an opportunity that have been on the fringes, or not had opportunities this season will get a chance now under the new manager.

"The last two seasons at Swansea, he’s got them into the playoff positions, and it's a great achievement for him, so I think it's a good fit.

During their time in South Wales, Cooper had the edge over his Cardiff counterpart and avoided defeat in both meetings with Harris.

They drew 0-0 in their first meeting as managers at the Cardiff City Stadium before Cooper got one over his opposite number last season when a Jamal Lowe brace gave his Swansea side the victory in December last year.
