Nottingham Forest fans take cheeky swipe at rivals Derby County following transfer link

Nottingham Forest fans wasted no time in trolling their Derby County counterparts following a surprise transfer link involving the two rivals.

Forest have been linked with a move for 20-year-old Derby full-back Lee Buchanan and Reds supporters have taken a cheeky swipe at the Rams.

Written within Buchanan's description on Google, it now says: "Lee David Buchanan is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for the greatest club in the Midlands, Nottingham Forest, after deciding to leave Wayne Rooney's Derby County in the mud!"

Buchanan, who played grassroots football as a youngster with Forest academy graduate Will Swan, was awarded the Rams' young player of the season award last term following an impressive campaign.

The transfer rumour first appeared courtesy of Alan Nixon of The Sun, but a source has confirmed to NottinghamshireLive that the Reds are interested in the player and have had an initial bid rejected.

He contributed four assists from 37 appearances as Derby County narrowly avoided relegation to League One.

Derby County are under tight transfer restrictions following a breach of financial rules. It means the Rams can only sign free agents on a one-year contract or loan players on a six-month deal.

The transfer rumour has resulted in Forest fans mocking their local rivals on social media.

One supporter said it was "charity" business from Forest to keep their neighbours afloat by poaching one of their best youngsters.

Another jokingly suggested the Reds would offer an overpriced meal deal for the young defender.
