Nottingham Forest fans split on transfer links to American international

Nottingham Forest fans are unsure about the club being linked with another right-back, after reports have emerged that Reggie Cannon is the latest defender being targeted.

The 22-year-old is the latest in a long line of full-backs that have been linked with the club this summer to address what is clearly a problem position.

This was emphasised on Saturday when Jordi Osei-Tutu, a right-back who had only played once before at left-back according to Transfermarkt, was given his bow for the club on the left-hand side.

Similarly, Cannon is a right-footed right-back, but would nonetheless bolster the full-back area should he arrive from Portuguese side Boavista this month.

His potential arrival would make him the second American international that the club have signed this summer after goalkeeper Ethan Horvath arrived as the club's first senior signing last month.

Forest fans have had a mixed reaction to the news on our Facebook page, with the overriding feeling that another defender is not currently the priority amongst the fan base.

Josh Smith: Good player but we don’t need another RB

Javier Alejandro: He’s a great player

Gordon Herbert: Seems like a long shot

Sean Mc Kenna: If we get another defender it shows we will only be passing the ball backwards and sideways

Davide Acquafresca: Do we really need another right-back?

Ty Yaqub: Another defender, who would have thought

Adam Watson: Need a striker not a defender

John Devine: When is all this speculation about incoming players going to amount to something. Two league games already over.

Kevin Jones: What little money we have , can we get a striker ?

Kenan Chambers: United States of Nottingham forest
