Nottingham Forest fans set for travel chaos in Aston Villa clash

Nottingham Forest fans are set for travel disruption when they travel for the Reds clash against Aston Villa on Saturday, April 8.

Steve Cooper's side visit the Villains on the Easter weekend as they continue their battle for survival. Forest are currently just two points above the bottom three.

They return to action on Saturday in a vital clash against fellow relegation strugglers Wolves at the City Ground. They then travel for another six-pointer away at Leeds three days later.

But fans hoping for an easy journey to the Reds clash with Villa next month will be left disappointed. That's because BirminghamLive report that there will be no trains running between Lichfield and Birmingham both to and from the city so that important work can be carried out.

The trains affected include Sutton Coldfield, Erdington and Aston where Villa Park is located. There will be rail replacement buses in operation between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley from Good Friday to Easter Monday, with passengers advised to allow more time than usual for their journeys.

Denise Wetton, Network Rail’s Central route director, said: “We know there’s never an ideal time to close the railway, so I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience ahead of this complex work to replace a bridge which carries freight trains over passenger services. This major investment has the dual benefit of making sure freight goods can travel by rail smoothly and reliably in future.

"As well as the thousands of people who travel daily on the important Cross City line below. My advice during the work is to please check National Rail Enquiries in advance and allow more time for your journey over Easter.”
