Nottingham Forest fans send Chris Hughton selection demand after player's poor performance vs Cardiff City
Nottingham Forest fans have called for manager Chris Hughton to make a major change to the Reds' squad ahead of their next Championship fixtures.
Goalkeeper Brice Samba would have hoped that the international break would allow him to reignite his form for the Reds after a sticky start to the season, but the Congolese shot-stopper produced another shaky showing as the Reds were beaten 2-1 by Cardiff City.
Lewis Grabban's first-half strike gave the hosts the lead at half-time, but two goals from substitute Rubin Colwill saw the visitors take all three points.
In the first half, Samba's positioning had Forest fans' hearts in their mouths when Joel Bagan's header struck the crossbar.
He was also slow to react to Colwill's close-range strike as the visitors levelled the scores just 53 seconds after the 19-year-old had been brought on by Cardiff boss Mick McCarthy.
Little criticism could be sent in Samba 's direction for the visitors' second goal, with the teenager's strike just out of his reach, but Forest fans would like to see summer signing Ethan Horvath given an opportunity in the Championship.
Here is what some Forest fans had to say on social media...
@RedDogNF: Easy to blame Samba, but 10 others let it past before he gets a go...
@DanieGillyd: Samba is like Dracula... he don't like crosses
@DanielD07631863: Samba really doesn't know how to command his area, if teams are wise enough all they have to do is ping balls in to our box
@EdmundVDantes: How many flaps, failed clearances has Samba been responsible for in this match alone? Horvath must be awful in training for Samba to continually be getting a start
@mikewood77: What has happened to Brice Samba? A shadow of his former self. Doesn't come for crosses and he's the reason the back 4 let unsettled. They look like they don't have confidence in him anymore
@CheckleyBen: Samba needs to be dropped
@gordieboy67: Samba isn't the keeper he has been, looks very nervous in and around his 6 yard box
@Matt_Brewis: Surely time to give Horvath a go. Played well in cup games and let's be honest, Samba can be very suspect at times
