Nottingham Forest fans see potential new captain - and hope for Joao Carvalho

Nottingham Forest picked up a pre-season win on Saturday as they beat Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion at St George's Park.

Lyle Taylor got the only goal in the first half and though Forest have not released a full line-up for the game, a host of senior players were involved

They included Brice Samba, Tobias Figueiredo, Yuri Ribeiro, Sammy Ameobi and Joao Carvalho, while Ryan Yates captained the team.

After the match, Forest fans were encouraged by the appearance of Carvalho, the club record signing who has struggled for regular appearances under Sabri Lamouchi, while Yates wearing the armband also caught the eye.

West Brom also named a strong line-up at St George's Park with Sam Johnstone, Jake Livermore, Matt Phillips, Charlie Austin, Matheus Pereira and Hal Robson-Kanu among those who played.

Taylor got the only goal in blustery conditions with a close range finish in the first half. Before that, Carvalho came the closest early on to opening the scoring when he rattled the woodwork from a free-kick.

Albion's website credited Samba for an impressive second half showing as he denied Austin, Pereira and Jamie Soule to preserve a clean sheet for Sabri Lamouchi's side.
