Nottingham Forest fans scratch their heads as former Reds flop scores against Barcelona

Rafa Mir is not remembered particularly fondly by Nottingham Forest fans for his time on Trentside.

The striker flopped during a loan spell at the City Ground from Wolverhampton Wanderers under Sabri Lamouchi last season.

The Spaniard made 13 appearances in the Garibaldi and failed to find the back of the net in every single one of them, largely being restricted to a role from off the bench.

Mir made such little impact at Forest, it came as little surprise when his loan was cut short in the January and he went on to spend the second half of last term at Huesca.

Since leaving the Reds, though, he seems to have found his goalscoring touch - kind of.

Forest fans took to social media on Monday night as they were left scratching their heads when Mir, who remains at Huesca, managed to score against mighty Barcelona.

The forward, who couldn’t notch a single goal for the Reds, incredibly, netted at the Nou Camp.

Mir struck from the penalty spot for his 11th of the campaign.

However, he did offer a little reminder of his previous struggles, somehow missing from barely a yard out with the goal at his mercy.

The score was 3-1 at the time and his team went on to lose 4-1.

Mir has made 28 appearances for Huesca this term, with his goal tally including two hat-tricks - against Marchamalo and Valldolid.

Prior to the match against Barcelona, Spanish newspaper Marca described him as Huesca's "complete striker" and their "biggest threat" as "one of the most in-form strikers in La Liga".
