Nottingham Forest fans remind Middlesbrough just how much Britt Assombalonga cost after video of woeful miss

A video clip showing a woeful miss by former Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has caught the eye of Reds fans.

And plenty have been enjoying the chance to remind Middlesbrough just how much they paid to take the front man from the City Ground.

Assombalonga made the move to the Riverside from Forest in the summer of 2017, in a £15m deal, having spent three years on the banks of the Trent.

He has netted 15 goals for Boro this season, a tally which wasn’t quite enough to take them to a top six finish, as they missed out on the play-offs by one place and one point, losing out to Derby County on the final day.

The 26-year-old was on target for his team in their last game of the campaign - a 2-1 victory over Rotherham United - when he found the back of the net from the penalty spot.

And he had a great chance to double that advantage soon after when he burst through the Millers’ defence and latched on to a through-ball.

The angle for his resulting shot was always against him - so much so that his shot trickled along and hit the far corner flag.

Soccer AM tweeted a clip of Assombalonga’s shocker, writing: “Poor Assombalonga. This shot is hard to watch.. Rolling in slow-mo before hitting the corner flag.”

Reds supporters quickly latched on to the tweet.
