Nottingham Forest fans pile in on Gary Lineker after put down

Gary Lineker has tried his best to stoke the flames early ahead of Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup tie with Leicester City.

The Reds eased into the fourth round of the competition when they dumped out Arsenal on Sunday, courtesy of Lewis Grabban’s late winner to clinch a 1-0 victory.

And with the Gunners having fallen victim to the Steve Cooper revolution, the aim now will be to add another Premier League scalp at the City Ground.

Forest were drawn to face the Foxes at home in the next round, for what will be the first meeting between the two teams since a 2-2 Championship draw on the banks of the Trent in February 2014.

Ahead of Monday night's clash between Manchester United and Aston Villa, BBC host - and former Leicester striker - Lineker posted a photo of himself posing next to the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

A Reds fan asked: “Gary, how you looking forward to coming back to the biggest club in the East Midlands for the 4th round??”

And Lineker replied: "It’s always a pleasure to visit clubs from the lower leagues."

Forest supporters were quick to respond.

@JamieBriody: Champions of Europe - you'll never sing that.

@Matt_NFFC1: Premier league and fa cup champions, yet we are still rent free

@PaulWalford9: Leicester’s Big Day Out.

@wackykw: You won’t see our fans with plastic clappers for atmosphere #NFFC

@TheMightyTazer: During Gary Lineker’s career, Forest won; 2 European Cups, 3 League Cups, A Charity Shield, A European Super Cup & 2 Full Members Cups. If you include his youth career then you can add; 1 more league cup, The Anglo Scottish Cup & A First Division Title.

@TrixieKing27: Such a card is Gary. Laugh a minute!! Much respect to Ian Wright’s take on the game yesterday

Reds head coach Cooper said of the tie: “Brilliant. Another Premier League team, the cup holders.

“They’re an attractive team.

“I’m only thinking about the Championship at the moment, but we’ll look forward to and get ready for that one when it comes.

“But it’s everything on Millwall now.”
