Nottingham Forest fans name a surprise in their team to face Bolton Wanderers

After 45 games, it all comes down to one final City Ground appearance of the season for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds host already relegated Bolton Wanderers on Sunday (12.30pm), with the Trotters arriving on Trentside after a calamitous couple of weeks off the pitch, including a player strike which saw last Saturday’s home game with Brentford called off.

Forest’s supporters have backed their side in great numbers throughout a much-improved Championship campaign and they have been picking the starting XI they’d like to see Martin O’Neill field against Bolton Wanderers this afternoon.

And it contains a big surprise.

There would be no place for newly crowned Player of the Season Joe Lolley.

Portuguese defender Tobias Figueiredo would come in for his first start of the season to partner Alexander Milosevic in the centre of defence, with Jack Robinson deployed on the left.

Where are they now? The Nottingham Forest side defeated by Bolton Wanderers on the final day last season

There’s also what could be a final Forest start for Sam Byram with his loan spell from West Ham coming to an end after this afternoon’s clash, though the Reds remain keen to see him here next term.

In front of the back four, Reds fans would have Claudio Yacob and Ryan Yates, with Ben Osborn and Matty Cash wide left and right respectively.

Not the season Nottingham Forest wanted but finale against crisis club Bolton should provide perspective, says Joe Lolley

Further forward, Portuguese star Joao Carvalho would play in the hole behind leading scorer Lewis Grabban, with no place in the starting XI for Lolley.

Reds fans' team: Pantilimon, Robinson, Milosevic, Figueiredo, Byram, Yates, Yacob, Osborn, Cash, Grabban, Carvalho.
