Nottingham Forest fans hate everything about Wayne Rooney's Derby County debut

From the Sky Sports love-in to the quality of his performance, Nottingham Forest fans were left distinctly unimpressed by Wayne Rooney's return to English footballl.

The 34-year-old's Derby County debut was treated with the fanfare of a royal wedding by the broadcaster as the Rams beat Barnsley 2-1 in the Championship on Thursday night.

The new player/coach was also made captain in place of Curtis Davies and although he set up the opening goal with an excellent free-kick and produced trademark classy passes, he also tired as he played in the centre of midfield.

Rooney helped get Phillip Cocu's men up and running, providing an assist for Jack Marriott's opener on the stroke of half-time.

Here's what Reds fans made of his performance for their arch rivals on Twitter.

Barnsley levelled through substitute Elliot Simoes five minutes into the second half before Martyn Waghorn swept home Andre Wisdom's cut-back from the right.

But the Rams held on to ended Barnsley's five-match unbeaten run - and record successive victories for the first time this season.
