Nottingham Forest fans get 'Uncle Albert' trending across the UK after East Midlands derby opener

Nottingham Forest fans had 'Uncle Albert' in the top spot of Twitter's trending tab across the United Kingdom after their opening goal against East Midlands rivals Derby County.

Albert Adomah's goal fired the Reds ahead at the City Ground on a memorable night on Trentside in the Carabao Cup that saw Joe Lolley and the returning Joao Carvalho also get on the score sheet.

While the Reds dominated on the pitch, it was Adomah's endearing nickname that dominated the Twitter world.

Sabri Lamouchi's side made eight changes for the clash while Rams boss Philip Cocu made 10 as they were punished with a cup exit.

But on the night that saw the Great British Bake Off return to our screens it was jubilant Forest fans who dethroned the Channel Four show from the top spot as they took to Twitter to celebrate.
