Nottingham Forest fans can vote for Brian Clough's side to be crowned Europe’s team of the century

Nottingham Forest fans can fly the flag for Brian Clough's boys by voting for them in BT Sport's 'Greatest club side of the century poll' - but they face the toughest of tests in the opening round.

The City Ground side of 1977-80 has been nominated as one of the vest best club sides in the history of football by the British broadcaster, with fans encouraged to vote for their winner.

The poll is being conducted in tournament format with Forest to go head to head with a different club side from the past century every few days.

But they could not have asked for a tougher test as they lock horns with Celtic's European Cup-winning side of 1967 in the opening round.

The Lisbon Lions, as the are known, achieved the unthinkable over 50 years ago to become the first British team to lift the trophy.

But just over ten years later, Clough's Forest were following them in their achievements - and did it twice, back to back.

That City Ground side were the ultimate underdogs, not long promoted from the second division when they stormed to European success.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool - they all feared Forest of the late seventies and they certainly deserve their place in the poll.
