No sooner had Tiago Silva emerged as a target for Nottingham Forest, then one witty fan quickly got to work on the midfielder’s Wikipedia page.
The 26-year-old, who plays for Feirense in his homeland of Portugal, is wanted by new Reds head coach Sabri Lamouchi.
The Frenchman is eager to add technically gifted players with a turn of pace to his squad, and Silva is at the top of the list.
Forest hope to move quickly to clinch the Benfica youth product’s signature – but it appears someone has moved even faster to tweak his CV on the online encyclopedia.
The introduction on Silva’s page has been adapted to read: “Signed for Nottingham Forest and scored the winner in the play-off final to beat Derby 9-0.”
The Reds’ arch-rivals Derby County, of course, reached the play-off final last season, where they lost out to Aston Villa for a place in the Premier League.
Lamouchi’s men will be aiming to mount a promotion push of their own this time around, having finished ninth under Martin O’Neill.
The ex-Rennes chief has been casting his eye over his squad during a pre-season training camp in Spain, and has identified the need to bring in a few more technically-gifted players, along with a little more pace.
If all goes well, Silva is expected to join next week.
But supporters will have to wait a little longer to see if that play-off prediction comes true!
