Goalkeeper Brice Samba and one Nottingham Forest fan are now “linked (or rather, inked) forever”.
Luke Webster had vowed to get a cheeky tattoo in honour of the Forest stopper if he kept a clean-sheet in the East Midlands derby on Tuesday night.
Samba duly did just that, keeping Derby County at bay as Sabri Lamouchi’s men eased into the next round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 victory at the City Ground.
And Luke proved true to his word, getting “SAMBA” tattooed exactly where he said he would!
He’s ended up with a little more than he bargained for, too - in a good way - as Samba says he will reward the Reds fan’s painful efforts with tickets to see his team in the next round of the cup, away to Premier League giants Arsenal.
Luke tweeted Samba a picture of his new inking, writing: “I’m a man of my word @samba_brice @nffc #nffc.”
And the Forest custodian responded: “Oh mannn that’s terrible but I love it at the same time (the tattoo, not your arse). See you soon hopefully, we’re linked for ever.”
He added: “You just earned yourself 5 (lucky my name ain’t longer) tickets for Arsenal game and DM me so I can send my jersey bro.”
Prior to the midweek clash with the Rams, Luke had tweeted Samba, saying: “Clean sheet tomorrow and I’ll get a tattoo of your name on my arse.”
Once he’d shut out the Reds’ arch-rivals, Samba jokingly responded: “It’s spelled S A M B A.”
Albert Adomah, Joe Lolley and Joao Carvalho scored the goals to seal a famous win for the hosts over their bitter enemies.
The tie with the Gunners will be played at the Emirates Stadium in the week commencing Monday, September 23.
