Nottingham Forest face transfer fight as Tyler Adams 'approach made'

Interest in Nottingham Forest-linked Tyler Adams is ramping up as the summer window progresses.

The Reds were already said to be facing a fight for the in-demand Leeds United midfielder. And now it seems one of their Premier League rivals are trying to steal a march on the competition.

West Ham United have made an approach for Adams, according to the Daily Mail. However, our sister title LeedsLive say an offer has not yet been placed on the table amid the Whites’ £40million valuation of the player.

Previous reports have suggested Adams has a relegation release clause in his contract, which would be triggered if a bid reaches a certain figure or even in the event of a loan offer. Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton are also said to be eyeing up the 24-year-old.

Adams made the switch to Elland Road from RB Leipzig last summer in a reported £20m deal. The USA international made 26 appearances as Leeds suffered relegation to the Championship.

He was absent for the run-in due to being sidelined with injury, last featuring during a 2-2 draw against Brighton in March. The hamstring problem is said to still be affecting him ahead of returning for pre-season.

Forest will assess their options in the centre of the pitch this summer as they look to strengthen in preparation for the 2023/24 campaign. They have already released Jack Colback at the end of his contract, while Cafu - who was not part of the 25-man Premier League squad - has also been let go.

Jonjo Shelvey is likely to depart as the Reds try to trim numbers, and there is also a question mark over the future of Remo Freuler. A decision will have to be made, too, over whether Lewis O’Brien has a part to play next term as his DC United loan spell comes to an end this month.

Midfield is an area Forest are expected to try to bolster, however. They are still waiting to bring in their first addition of the summer.
